Ready to Rip

It has taken me a while to get some tracks up. This is the first batch of many to follow. I was planning to do a full album of just ripping, tasty riffs but got sidetracked. For some reason I was inspired to do a bunch of love songs! Check it out.
Heavy metal has influenced me since my teen years in the 1980s. I’m inspired by heavy metal guitar and from there, travel wherever the mood takes me. I’m not in love but for some reason I am channeling love in my music.
Metal has always been It was all about the look and the talent. You can’t fake good metal though many have tried. You can play great music but I once also believed you need the outfits to communicate your awesomeness. I remember when Judas Priest arrived with power, delivering the goods. It was an attitude. Then they came out with Point of Entry which was one of their most subdued efforts, even to do this day, and it rips. It’s still one of my faves and I play it whenever I’m taking a trip. It’s the first track on the playlist.
In the same era, I saw guitarist John Hall at The Bottom Line in Greenwich Village, NYC. A plain dude wearing plain clothes with some really plain bluesy songs. The guy can really smoke some serious riffs on guitar. It was a really great experience to see such a talented guitarist from up close. I could study his technique and became inspired.
I’ve collected a lot of guitarists in my head for decades. I love them all and they have shaped my playing style immensely. Everyone, even people who are not well-known, has the ability to shred on their instruments of choice.
With today’s technology, you can further shape your sound. AI music is generic bullshit but you can learn to use AI tools in other ways. I have learned to adapt and integrate my creativity around my moods and let my playing style speak for itself.
We will see what direction that wind blows!
